Frequently asked questions
Do thumbstick extenders actually work?
Yes, but they are not magic. A taller stick is a longer lever, so the same thumb movement turns into a smaller, finer correction on screen. Most players get used to them within a few matches.
Do they fit the DualSense Edge?
Yes. They fit the standard DualSense, including the one that comes with the PS5 Pro, the DualSense Edge and the PS4 DualShock 4.
Will extenders fix stick drift?
No. Drift comes from wear inside the controller, and a taller stick does not change that. Our blog on PS5 controller drift explains the causes and what actually helps.
Which height is best for sniping or close range?
Put the 15 mm on the right stick for aiming and sniping, and the 10 mm on the left stick for movement. If you mostly play fast close range fights, you can swap the two around or try a few matches without them to see what suits you.
Do thumbstick extenders change aim assist?
No. Aim assist is built into the game, not the controller. Extenders change how far your thumb travels, not the input the controller sends, so aim assist works exactly as before.

Are thumbstick extenders allowed in tournaments?
In online play, including ranked, yes. They are passive attachments that don't change what the controller sends to the console. For official tournaments, especially LAN events, always check the rulebook, because every organiser sets its own rules.
Can thumbstick extenders cause stick drift?
No. They sit on top of the stick and never touch the sensor inside the controller. Drift comes from wear inside the controller itself. To take them off, pull them straight up instead of prying at the edge.
Which extender goes on which stick?
The 15 mm extender goes on the right stick, which you aim with. The 10 mm extender goes on the left stick, which you move with. That is the setup most FPS players use, but because they snap on, you can swap them around and try what suits you.
Should I change my sensitivity after fitting them?
You can, but you do not have to. A taller stick needs a bit more thumb travel for the same turn, which is why many players raise their in-game sensitivity a step without losing accuracy. Our guide to controller deadzone and FPS settings helps you fine-tune it.
Do I need to replace my PS5 thumbsticks to get taller sticks?
No. The extenders snap over your existing sticks. You don't unscrew anything and your controller stays closed.
Can I use them together with precision rings?
Yes. The ring sits around the base of the stick and the extender snaps on top. That is exactly the combination in the Pro Kit.
